ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
We accept applications through ERAS ONLY; NO paper applications or CVs accepted.
The application deadline for 2011-2012 academic year and the 2012 Match is November 24, 2011. Please review the list of qualifications posted below.
In addition to the required application materials, all applicants to the Rose Residency as well as the other Family Medicine Residency programs at the University of Colorado must be eligible for permanent licensure at the beginning of their second year of training in accordance with the guidelines of the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners.
ALL APPLICANTS must meet the following Criteria:
- Must have a passing score on USMLE or COMLEX Steps I and II on the first attempt.
- If taken, must demonstrate a passing score on USMLE III or COMLEX III
- Must have graduated from Medical School within the past three years.
- Must have excellent English communications skills.
- Three letters of reference are required, with a minimum of one reference letter from an U.S. Family Medicine physician who has supervised the applicant clinically.
- Applicants who have successfully completed an PGY-1 year at an AOA or ACGME accredited residency previously, who have served/are serving as an active-duty military physician, or who have worked/are working for the US Public Health Service, AND are applying through ERAS for a PGY-1 position, should contact the program directly for any possible exceptions to our standard eligibility rules.
For Graduates of schools outside the USA the following additional requirements must be met:
- Must hold an ECFMG certificate valid indefinitely.
- Residents in our program must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or possess the appropriate documentation to allow Resident to legally train at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine.
- Preference will be given to applicants who will be eligible to apply for and receive a permanent Colorado Medical License by the end of their first year of residency training:
According to the guidelines of the State of Colorado, graduates of medical schools located outside of the U.S. or Canada must satisfactorily complete three years of LCME approved postgraduate clinical training in the United States in order to be eligible for licensure consideration. Approved training generally requires that the training facility be approved by the ACGME to offer the training and that the applicant hold an ACGME approved training position.
