Hello! I was born and raised in a small town in northern Michigan called Cheboygan. From there I decided I wanted to go big, so I headed a few hours south of my home town to attend Michigan State University, GO GREEN!!! And, though I will always be a Spartan at heart, I decided that for medical school I wanted more sunshine. So, to Florida I went, to live and study in the beautiful Tampa Bay, Florida. It was here that I met my fiancé, Josh, and we decided after many mini trips to visit Colorado that there is nowhere else we would rather live. I had the opportunity to spend time at many of the family medicine programs in Colorado during my 4th year, and Rose seemed to be the best fit for me. The programs strong academics, knowledgeable and diverse faculty members, and of course the amazing residents are just a few things that attracted me to this program. In my spare time I enjoy finding new hiking trails and exploring the mountains with my fiancé, Josh, and our 2 dogs, Alli and Emma. We couldn't be more excited to settle down in our new house and with our new resident family here in Colorado!

Hi! I'm Carolynn Starr Francavilla Brown. I'm a sixth generation Coloradan, I went to the University of Denver for college, and the University of Colorado for medical school. My husband is also from Colorado and we both love living here. I'm certainly lucky that Colorado has such wonderful family medicine residencies, so that I could stay in this awesome state! When I visited Rose, I was surprised to find that it had everything on my checklist. I think what impressed me most was the variety of careers and fellowships the graduating class was going into- I could tell I would have the training I needed to pursue whatever family medicine career I wanted. I'm really enjoying getting to know the team here- we are always up for dinner or hike or a bike ride or any sort of adventure Colorado has to offer.

In my free time I love to ski, workout, cook and play with my pugs! I love the color pink, polka dots and cake.

Hello! I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and went on to college at the University of Missouri (Go Tigers!) to study biochemistry and minor in psychology. I spent one year after undergrad working at a local hospital as a patient care technician, helping out patients on a surgical floor recover from their operations. I stayed at the University of Missouri for medical school and fell in love with Colorado after I spent a few days in Durango, CO while I was doing an Indian Health Services rotation in New Mexico. I was thrilled to have matched at Rose because I felt like I had already belonged here while I was on my interview. The faculty are approachable, friendly, and willing to teach. The fellow residents are easy to work with and hard working. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with. The program itself is great at preparing you for full spectrum family medicine, as recent grads have gone onto doing fellowships or working for urban/rural/academic/private practices. During my free time, I like to go hiking with my boyfriend and dog Athena, try out new restaurants, cook, and travel. I've never been skiing or snowboarding either and look forward to learning during my time here!

Hello! I grew up on a farm outside of the Springfield, IL home to everything Abraham Lincoln. I went to college at Iowa State University to study genetics and after spending my undergrad years in a lab I decided I wanted to help people more directly by going into medicine instead. Once I decided I wanted to be a doctor, I knew primary care was for me. I would get bored doing the same thing everyday and I wanted to form relationships with patients and their families, taking care of a whole community. I think medicine is so much more than just science and I think family medicine allows a doctor the best opportunity to care for the patient as a person. In medicine my interests include rural medicine, geriatrics and hospice care. Outside of medicine my interests include biking, baking, and "upcycling" old furniture and other "treasures" I find at flea markets and antique shops. I liked Rose because it was a community program and the residents were happy and comfortable with the program and felt the education was superb. I am so excited to live in a place like Denver that has so much to do year round and so much sunshine! Good luck in your residency search!

I grew up in upstate New York and moved around a lot as kid covering most of the eastern seaboard before settling back down in Saugerties, NY which is better known for being the site of the second Woodstock festival. I spent the last 10 years in Albany, NY where I attended undergraduate and medical school and also happened to meet my fiance who will be attending law school in Boulder. We were both drawn to Denver for the outdoors and the skiing, but I was drawn specifically to Rose for the caring faculty and opportunity to train at a community program with a University affiliate. I could not imagine myself at any other residency and definitely not happier. When I'm not practicing medicine, I enjoy running, cooking and anything outdoors.
