Bill Chisholm, MD
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
Hi, my name is Bill Chisholm, and I am one of the interns lucky to have matched at Rose for this year! I came out West from the great state of New Jersey, where I did my medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School in Newark. After doing my undergraduate work at Cornell University and my med school at UMDNJ-NJMS, I knew it was time for a change. I interviewed at many programs, but Rose was where I felt most at home. I knew I wanted a residency that would expose me to the full spectrum of family medicine, and Rose is definitely the place for that! After meeting the residents and attendings while interviewing here, I know this program is dedicated to my education and to seeing me excel. The support from everyone here, staff, residents, and attendings, has been fantastic! I know that this is the program for me, and I hope it is for you too! The people, the location, the city - you can't find a better place! Take care, and I hope to see you during the interview system here at Rose Family Medicine!!
Lyndsay Hoemberg, DO
Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine
I am a transplant to CO from Staples, MN. I went to the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University in MN. Following this, I ventured to Jamaica, West Indies for a couple of years to work with a volunteer program called Passionist Volunteers International. I lived in the mountains outside of Kingston and worked primarily doing social work projects and working in 2 different schools. I had always considered the possibility of going into medicine, but it wasn't until my experience abroad and working with the poor that I decided to apply to medical school. I chose to go to Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. It was there that I started falling in love with osteopathy and the interconnectedness of the human body. In turn, I now find myself attracted to a holistic approach to medicine that has a foundation in pathophysiology and research, yet incorporates osteopathic manipulation, functional medicine, lifestyle, and mental health into the patient's health care plan. In addition, as I continue on in my training, Denver has become a natural home. The mountains, art, music, and other active Coloradans make Denver a great place to work and play.
Carol Kerr, MD
University of Colorado School of Medicine
I was born in North Dakota, and after spending my elementary school years in Pennsylvania, I returned to Grand Forks to finish high school. There I met my husband, Scott, who has since supported me through college at the University of Pittsburgh, as well as Medical School at the University of Colorado. We have twin boys, who are loving and attend elementary school in Cherry Creek, while Scott is continuing his education at the CU Downtown Denver Campus. I am so thrilled to be at Rose Family Medicine Residency, in part because I've grown to love all Colorado has to offer, like camping in the Great Sand Dunes National Park, and exploring the rich culture of Denver, but more importantly because Rose offered me the training I needed to practice Family Medicine in any setting, and also a warm, supportive, and talented group of residents, as well as dedicated faculty who are completely invested in education. I can't wait to learn as much as I can about patient care, and my family couldn't be happier with our new home in Colorado!
Lynley Rader, DO
Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences
Hi! I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. After high school I completed my undergraduate degree in Political Science at Indiana University. Between college and medical school I spent some time living in Chicago. I completed medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences this past May and then headed straight to Denver! So far I have loved everything about the Rose Family Medicine Residency program. We have wonderful faculty and great support from the upper level residents. I'm not quite sure what kind of medicine I want to practice eventually but I have a strong interest in Dermatology. Also, the city of Denver is absolutely beautiful! There are wonderful opportunities to stay physically fit and enjoy the scenery. I couldn't have asked for a better place to live. I am very happy I chose RFMR, and you will be too!
Amanda Reeder, MD
University of Nebraska College of Medicine
Born and raised in Colorado, I ventured off to Nebraska to attend college at Concordia University where I played soccer and double-majored in music and biology. My senior year, I was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma (bone cancer). After graduation, I moved back to Colorado and earned a master's degree in biology from the University of Colorado while going through chemo and radiation treatments. Subsequently, I earned my MD from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. Though I enjoyed my time in 'the heartland', I was thrilled to match to Rose. The hospital is among the top 100 community hospitals in the nation, the program is community-based but affiliated with an academic program (the University of Colorado), and the residents and faculty create a very supportive and friendly environment. My husband and I look forward to settling here in Colorado permanently and starting the adoption process in the near future. In my free-time I enjoy camping, traveling, cooking/baking, cake decorating, playing the piano, attending Denver Broncos and Colorado Rapids games, and flying with my dad. I hope to earn my private pilot's license in the next few years.
Bridget Shariat, DO
Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Hey Y'all! I'm a southern girl born and raised in Nashville, TN. I went to VCOM for medical school set in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. I fell in love with Denver after interviewing all over the country and knew this was the place I wanted to be trained in Family Medicine. I felt an instant connection when I visited Rose because the faculty are so passionate and dedicated to fostering a creative learning environment. I was also looking for an unopposed program that is part of a larger university, allowing numerous electives, international rotations, and collaboration with other residents and fields. Rose has it all and thus I am so happy to be here! My medical interests include international health, underserved care, and women's health. Outside of medicine, I enjoy hiking, painting, drinking coffee, and travelling. I can't wait for my first ski season!
Eric Traister, MD
University of Arkansas School of Medicine
I'm of Chinese descent born in Japan on the US air force base with a Jewish last name and I've lived in Arkansas for the last 26 years. It's really not as confusing as you might think it is. Some of my interests besides medicine include movies, playing sports, watching sports, trying new foods, and making smoothies. I've loved every minute that I've been out here in CO so far. The climate here is amazing especially compared to the humidity that dominates Arkansas. The #1 thing that makes Rose a fantastic place to work at is all the people associated with the hospital. That includes the faculty, fellow residents, nurses, medical assistants, etc... I can't think of a better place where I would have fit in. Oh and no my photo is not photo-shopped.
