June 5th, 2010 Rose Family Medicine celebrates it's 40th year of accreditation as a Family Medicine Program. Please check out the blog. It's an awesome feeling to have trained family physicians for four decades!

June 5, 2010 marks the 40th year of the Rose Family Medicine Residency at Rose Medical Center! We first received our accreditation on June 5th, 1970. Congratulations and well-wishes to all who have made this partnership so successful over 4 decades of educating family medicine physicians.

June 1, 2010 The Rose Family Medicine Residency bids goodbye to one of our longtime faculty, Marc Grushan, MD. Marc has been with the Rose Residency for more than a decade, and is moving from a position as residency faculty to a private practice opportunity in Boulder. Marc will be part of a group that makes house-calls to the elderly and home-bound, and is excited about his new opportunity but will miss RFMR immensely. Marc leaves behind a legacy of education and contributions to the Rose program that will benefit our program for decades to come, and we will miss you! Best of luck in your new endeavor! (A search for new faculty is underway!)

I grew up in North Royalton, a suburb just outside of Cleveland, OH. After graduating high school, I went on to complete a six year combined BS/MD program with the University of Akron and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM). After my second year of medical school, I spent a year doing research at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where my husband was completing his residency. My husband and I really enjoyed Colorado, so we decided to come back once I graduated medical school. Some interests of mine include hiking, traveling, and photography.

Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, MI

Hi! I grew up in Michigan, went to University of Michigan for undergrad, (Go Blue!) where I was a Spanish Major. I decided to stay in Michigan for a little bit longer and went to medical school at Wayne State University. Rose Family Medicine Residency Erin InglisDetroit was a great place to get exposed to medicine, I was able to use my Spanish from time to time and also learned about working with underserved populations. However, I love skiing, trail running, mountain biking and road biking, and although it’s possible to do those things in Michigan, they’re so much more fun in Colorado! I’m really glad to be at Rose where the residents and faculty like to have fun, learn and work hard. Even as interns a lot of us have bought annual ski passes! We have a brand new clinic space, which is right next to the hospital so we don’t have to go to far for clinic or lectures. The program at Rose is a good mix because it’s in the city so you have a diverse patient population, but the hospital is small enough where people know you and help you out.

I was born and raised in Colorado, and it is so nice to be back. After spending some time in the Navy traveling the world, I must say there is no better place to live than Denver. I was fortunate enough to rotate at most of the programs in the Denver area, and although all the programs are great, I must say Rose was an easy choice. The faculty is very supportive, and I can’t say enough about the quality of the residents I work with. My interests include sports medicine and preventative medicine. In my free time I enjoy mountain biking, golfing, weightlifting, and I’m a sports freak. RFMR has everything that you could possibly want in a family medicine program.

University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Madison, WI

I grew up in central Wisconsin, not far from Amber (see class of 2009), where I too learned to appreciate the squeak of a fresh cheese curd, beer brats, below zero winters and 95% humidity summers. I did my undergrad and med school in Madison WI, during which I managed to spend some time abroad in Mexico and Ecuador. My wife and I met in undergrad and were married just before internship started; we spent our honeymoon moving our few belongings cross country to Denver. We are excited to be here, and have begun exploring the recreation that both the city and the mountains offer. My non-inclusive list of medical interests are: OB, adolescent, alternative, and palliative medicine, although I'm not sure how I'll put it all together. Outside of medicine, I like to travel, ski, run, and try new ethnic restaurants.Zack Wachtl

Loyola Univ Chicago Stritch School of Med Maywood, IL

I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I did my undergrad studies at The University of Michigan (go blue!), and then proceeded to Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.  Although I enjoyed my time in the Midwest, I was ready for a change (especially a change that included mountains and predictable sunshine!). I have definitely adapted well to the Colorado lifestyle, picking up rock climbing and cycling since moving here.  I also enjoy hiking, travel, photography, and simply spending time outdoors. I am very happy to be a part of the Rose medical team. Rose has an amazing group of residents and faculty, and offers all the benefits of both community and university programs.

University of Colorado School of Medicine, Denver

I was born and raised in Gunnison, CO.  I learned to ski at the age of 2 and grew up skiing some of the best areas in the US!  I went to undergrad in Bozeman, MT at Montana State University, where I studied Chemistry and skiied.  After undergrad, I traveled the western US-  studied photography, learned to surf, coached road cyclists and skiied alot!  I then went to medical school here in Denver.  Being in medical school and then residency while raising a family cut into my skiing time; I still ski but not as much as I once did.  My medical interests are wide- I really enjoy in-patient medicine, women's health, public health and alternative medicine.  Outside of medicine, I spend the majority of my free time with my family- my son is 6 and my daughter will be 1 this fall.  Otherwise, I knit when I have a free moment and I ski when I can.
