June 5, 2010 marks the 40th year of the Rose Family Medicine Residency at Rose Medical Center! We first received our accreditation on June 5th, 1970. Congratulations and well-wishes to all who have made this partnership so successful over 4 decades of educating family medicine physicians.

June 1, 2010 The Rose Family Medicine Residency bids goodbye to one of our longtime faculty, Marc Grushan, MD. Marc has been with the Rose Residency for more than a decade, and is moving from a position as residency faculty to a private practice opportunity in Boulder. Marc will be part of a group that makes house-calls to the elderly and home-bound, and is excited about his new opportunity but will miss RFMR immensely. Marc leaves behind a legacy of education and contributions to the Rose program that will benefit our program for decades to come, and we will miss you! Best of luck in your new endeavor! (A search for new faculty is underway!)

Ryan Flint, DO

I grew up in Big Bear Lake, a small town in the mountains of Southern California. I went to medical school at Western University's College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA. After growing tired of the rush, crowding, and expenses of California, my wife, Tally, and I decided to move to a more family-friendly place, and Denver topped the list. I enjoy the variety and personal relationships that can be cultivated in Family Medicine and so far have very much enjoyed the challenge of my residency at Rose. Some of my hobbies include: skiing, scuba diving, mountain biking, backpacking, and spending time with my wife and our 18-month old son, Thomas.

I choose Rose Family Medicine Residency (RFMR) for multiple reasons. Rose offers a diverse training experience in a community hospital with a university affiliation. As a result, the family medicine residents get excellent hands-on experience with didactics and supervision from Denver's top physicians. Also, RFMR has sports medicine didactics every Friday thru the CU sports medicine program. The faculty and staff at RFMR provide a "family" atmosphere for the residents at our clinic and in the hospital setting. During the residents' first year, the interns spend a week retreat in Creede, CO for team building and time to get to know each other. Climbing fourteeners, canoeing, and mountain biking in Creede was a great opportunity for our intern class to bond with each other and faculty. Lastly, Denver is a fabulous city to live in. A clean downtown that is vibrant and full of energy located next to mountains that offer hiking and skiing. I am thrilled to be a RFMR resident and willing to answer any questions about our program.

Oswaldo Grenardo, MD

Hello! I'm Ozzie and proud to be a Colorado native working here at Rose Hospital. I went to undergrad at Stanford University and med school at the University of Colorado. My interests include health disparities and diversity issues in medicine, health administration, and I am a sports fanatic. I have a wonderful daughter just starting school and love her and my family dearly. We've got a tremendous class and I'm happy to be a part of this team! (Ozzie was chosen as one of six Pisacano scholars in the country for his demonstrated leadership in medicine. He already has started working with community groups as a resident).

Lisa Rothgery, MD

As a student at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine I was actively searching for a change in climate. The Rose Family Practice Residency offered me the persistently sunny and clear blue skies I was looking for. Along with the sunshine, came a group of people as warm and comforting as the weather. During my interview I was attracted to the congeniality and camaraderie of Rose's residents, faculty and staff. That same atmosphere has provided me with the backdrop I have needed to make my internship both educational and fun. I have never enjoyed a group of people more than my fellow residents and I am looking forward to spending the next two years enjoying the great outdoors and the great people I have found at Rose. My interests include women's health issues, including OB, GYN, and eating disorder treatment. Outside of medicine I enjoy biking, hiking and, most of all, baking!

Josh Solot, DO

My name is Joshua Solot. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After a hiatus in the Southern United States for undergraduate and graduate education, I am very pleased with my decision to migrate out west. My decision to enter family medicine was in large part due to the general medical training that I have received and yet to participate in. Colorado has provided me with an opportunity to enjoy my time away from medicine. My fellow residents, faculty, and staff are wonderful and any medical student would be lucky to end up in such a fantastic program, city, and state.
