We are sorry to lose you but Happy for your new events! We're now recruiting for a second year resident to join our program in the summer of 2012.

December 22, 2011 We'd like to with everyone a Happy Hanukah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

Congrats!

(She's always "Dr. B" either way you look at it)

September 30, 2011 New Pictures! Please check out the link to Creede Pictures 2011 to view some of our latest photos, along with a picture of the infamous Erika Wentarmini driving escapade of late August. The car was REALLY CHALLENGING to dislodge, but not damage done. What the rental car company doesn't know, sometimes, is a good thing.

September 19, 2011 Rose wants to welcome Dr. Nida Awadallah to our faculty. Nida is a 2010 graduate of our program and we couldn't be happier to have her on faculty with us. Welcome aboard!

September 10, 2011 Bill, Eric, Amanda, Laura, and Bridget had the time of their lives and brought fear to their program director's plans for resident retention by skydiving over the northern metro area! It was a great celebration of camaraderie and Colorado, and went perfectly. Please click on the attached link to see some great pictures of Dr. Reeder!

September 1, 2011 Recruiting is underway. Rose FM has opened our residency to ERAS and we are receiving applications from all across the country for our Class of 2015.

August 29-September 2, 2011 The RFMR PGY-1 class, along with Dr. Hartman's, Stern, Bacak, and Erika Wentarmini, spent a fabulous week in Creede, Colorado at the annual PGY-1 retreat. We hiked, mountain biked, cooked, and learned wilderness medicine skills, teambuilding activities, and great ways to commune with nature , all without injuries. (Except to Erika's rental car...pictures coming soon )

August 4, 2011 Rose Family Medicine was recognized by the American Academy of Family Physicians for excellence in Tobacco Cessation. Please "click here" to read the article...

July 27-29, 2011 Select faculty and residents are attending the Colorado Health Foundation's annual Keystone Health Symposium at Keystone. This yearly conference brings together state and national leaders on Health Care systems, reform, and economics for health care policy discussions and conversations on how to improve the health of Coloradans and citizens across the US.

July 25, 2011 EMR update. Our electronic medical record Champion, Dr. Hartman, and her team have made some adjustments to the EMR implementation schedule to allow for system fixes and some fine tuning. During this temporary period over the next several months, select faculty and residents are continuing on eCW while the remainder of the clinic continues in a more traditional pattern with paper charts.

July 24, 2011 Congratulations to our 2011 graduate Dr. Duried Kassab on his new bride, Sherry, on their Sunday afternoon wedding. We're excited as they start their new life together!

July 23, 2011 Upcoming event: On Saturday the 23rd were meeting at the Frisco, CO visitor's center and leaving at noon for a bicycle ride up 10-Mile Canyon. It's all uphill, but the ride back is SWEET.

July 15, 2011 EMR Update: We are 6 weeks into the implementation of eCW. Our third years are soldiering away with paper charts (to keep their patient contacts up and provide our patients access!) while the rest of us are working through templates, interfaces, and order-entry. We couldn't do this without the support of Rose, The Colorado Health Foundation, and our project team of Sherrie, Melissa, Laura, and Anna.

July 2, 2011 Congratulations to Dr. Jenny Connery... not only has she graduated, but more importantly, we want to congratulate her on the birth of her new baby boy Jack! Although technically he was born AFTER graduation, he's still a part of the Rose Family Medicine Family.

July 1, 2011 We are delighted to have Dr. Chris Taggart start with us as faculty. Dr. Taggart is a Palliative Care trained physician from Ohio. Check out his bio on our website!

June 30, 2011 We want to congratulate our Class of 2011 on their accomplishments! Denver, Granby, Aspen, and the great state of Wisconsin are lucky to have our graduating residents and it was a pleasure having Matt, Jenny, Meghan, Duried, Monica, and Andrew pass through our lives. We wish them all the best.

June 23, 2011 Welcome aboard to our new interns: Marianne, Hilary, Rebecca, Carolyn, Erin, and Laura... we loved hosting you for our picnic on the 22nd and we're excited that you are starting your Family Medicine Career with us.

June 18, 2011 Congratulations to our 3rd year residents... the Rose Residency had a WONDERFUL graduation ceremony at the Marriott in Park Meadows. We were proud to host the event for all the residents and their families... who flew in from all across the country, and even a few from overseas. We wish them well in their new careers post residency!

June 1, 2011 The practice goes LIVE with eClinical Works... stay tuned for continued updates!

May 26, 2011 Congratulations to our Executive Director, Preston Ems, on his marriage to Jeannine! We're all really excited for them as they begin a new chapter in their life. The ceremony at Hudson Garden's was beautiful, and the DJ spun both Rap and 80's Rock Ballads... who suspected we'd hear both genre's mixed together with Jason Mraz! Congrats!

April 30, 2011 The residency would like to recognize Jessie Burch, PharmD, our clinical pharmacist, for her recognition as the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy 2011 Faculty of the Year. This honor is well-deserved. Congratulations!

April 27, 2011
Check out the latest from Pete Smith on our Patient Centered Medical Home Experience!
I had the pleasure of joining nearly 1300 Family Medicine educators from 10 countries at the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Annual Spring Conference in New Orleans this past week. STFM is always a fantastic opportunity to glimpse the cutting edge of Family Medicine teaching across the country and beyond. Although I always come away from STFM with a slew of new ideas, this year I was struck by how much we are doing under the banner of the Patient Centered Medical Home here at Rose Family Medicine that is already far out at the front of the curve: integrating pharmacy, case managers, and behavioral health; data-driven continuous quality improvement; advanced chronic disease management; teaching practice innovation; coping effectively with a multi-lingual world; developing solutions for safe transitions of care, population management, multi-practice learning collaboratives; care plans and birthing plans; chronic pain management; using mid-level providers; practice coaches; chronic disease registries; patient safety initiatives and near-miss reporting; leadership development; the list goes on and on!

April 19, 2011 WE ARE LIVE on our new electronic medical record, or EMR. Today we implemented the practice management piece of our new EMR and even did a few e-prescriptions. We'll be going live with our complete record in June of this year. Stay tuned for updates!

April 11, 2011 Rose Family Medicine is happy to announce that Jeremy Orr, MD, a graduate of our 2004 class, is joining our program as part-time teaching faculty. Jeremy brings EMR expertise and private practice experience to our group, and is a welcome addition. Welcome aboard, Jeremy!

April 1, 2011
Rose Medical Center was ranked in the top five in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals Metro Area Rankings" for the Denver Metro Area.

Rose ranked fourth in the Denver metro area in U.S. News & World Report's first-ever Best Hospitals rankings, available online at www.usnews.com/
hospitals
. To be ranked in its metro area, a hospital had to score in the top 25 percent among its peers in at least one of 16 medical specialties. The new rankings recognized 14 hospitals in the Denver metro area with a record of high performance in key medical specialties.

February 17, 2011 The residency, along with Rose Medical Center, The Colorado Health Foundation, and the University of Colorado, hosted a gathering that showcased the Residency's 40th anniversary of continued accreditation. The event was a wonderful success and gave everyone a chance to socialize and re-connect, including a graduate of our very first class. Thanks to all for making the program such a huge success.

February 2, 2011 Accreditation news: Rose Family Medicine is happy to report we have received notice of a 4 year reaccreditation cycle! On February 17th, we are marking the 40th year of continuing ACGME accreditation as a Family Medicine program, and so this news is particularly exciting. December 1, 2010 Congratulations to Dr. Krista Ault, a member of the fabulous class of 2012, on the birth of her new baby boy, Jacob ("Jake")... on November 16th. A wonderful addition to our residency family!

November 30, 2010 We're through with our first full month of residency interviews, and we've enjoyed meeting the folks we may work with next year. This year, we've got approximately 110 interviews scheduled, with occasional openings as people readjust their travel plans. Not surprisingly, we plan to be busy with interviewing through the months of December and January. Thanks to all of those applicants who have signed up to interview with us. We think we have a wonderful program, and we are proud to show it off!

November 15, 2010 Please congratulate Pete Smith, MD, on his new appointment as our Interim Associate Director. Pete's been with the residency for over a decade, and serves as our director for both patient safety and the patient centered medical home.

November 1, 2010 Please congratulate our Program Coordinator, Pam Sullivan, on being awarded her Initial Certification from TAGME (Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education) as a certified Program Administrator with added qualifications in Family Medicine. This certification is impressive! Pam qualified for the certification through completion of a standardized exam on Graduate Medical Education program administration, participation in GME activities at the regional and national level, and presentation at regional conferences on GME related issues. Currently, only 16 other Family Medicine Program Coordinators, out of 480 or so programs, have met the TAGME qualifications for certification. We've always known we had a high-performer. She's wonderfully deserving of this honor. Congratulations, Pam!

October 18, 2010 A big Rose Family Medicine round of applause to Jackie Stern for hosting our fall get-together at her house yesterday evening. Great food and camaraderie, (blunting but not completely eliminating the pain caused by the Broncos loss to the Jets... but here's to the 59 yard Bronco field-goal anyway!) and a wonderful chance to further meet all of the significant others who stand behind our residents and faculty.

On the recruiting front, out of 375 applicants, we've got 110 interviews scheduled for our upcoming recruiting season. We look forward to meeting each and every one of you!

October 13, 2010 Rose serves the community in a different way Please see the PDF to the Colorado Health Foundation's "The Huddle" discussing the residency's Creede Experience mentioned on September 23rd.

September 23, 2010 The Rose Family Medicine Class of 2013 just completed their "Basics of Family Medicine" month including the residency's annual (eleven years in a row) trip to Creede, Colorado, for team building, lectures on everything from diabetes to wilderness medicine, and group activities. As a group, we framed a house for "Habitat for Humanity" and it is sure to withstand those cold winter winds that will soon be moving in.

September 9, 2010 Our very own faculty member, John Hill, received the highly coveted and elusive "Leadman" Buckle for his recent completion of the Leadville 100: Made up of a 100 mile mountain bike race in under 12 hours, a 100 mile run, a 10-K run, a marathon, and a 50 mile ultra-marathon... all at above 10,000 feet, all running over consecutive weekends. Congratulations John! Thanks to Vanessa Rollins, our psychologist, for her midnight pacing on the 100 mile run somewhere just past of mile marker 72, and to John, for the spirit he brings to our residency. A special accomplishment since missing out on last year's buckle by something like 8 minutes too long cumulatively over all events.
John Hill Leadman Buckle

The aspens will be changing and the events will be fun as always. Congratulations to our 3rd year resident, Monica Morris, for her selection as a resident representative on the Board of the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians. Her first (long 8 hour meeting) was on August the 8th, led by our very own program director... Brian Bacak... also the Chair of the CAFP for this year... and she survived. It will prove to be an exciting year!

June 7, 2010 Welcome to Lori DePriest, newest member of our residency program support team. Lori comes to us with over six years experience as residency program assistant at the Southwest Georgia Family Medicine Residency at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia. She will utilize her valuable skills as our new Residency Project Coordinator.

June 1, 2010 The Rose Family Medicine Residency bids goodbye to one of our longtime faculty, Marc Grushan, MD. Marc has been with the Rose Residency for more than a decade, and is moving from a position as residency faculty to a private practice opportunity in Boulder. Marc will be part of a group that makes house-calls to the elderly and home-bound, and is excited about his new opportunity but will miss RFMR immensely. Marc leaves behind a legacy of education and contributions to the Rose program that will benefit our program for decades to come, and we will miss you! Best of luck in your new endeavor! (A search for new faculty is underway!)

April 1, 2010 Rose Medical Center has been named as a Top 100 hospital by Thomson Reuters for 2009. This is the 3rd year in a row that Rose has received this honor and Rose is the only Colorado hospital to be recognized this year. Rose is one of only 4 HCA hospitals nationwide to receive this recognition. The ranking is based on clinical quality, operating efficiency, and financial performance, and is compiled by Thompson Reuters through a review of publically available data to include Medicare quality reports.
